The compact Adafruit CH552 QT Py features a nostalgic 8-bit 8051 processor, providing a unique contrast to the powerful ESP32-S3 with dual 240MHz 32-bit cores. Despite its small size, the CH552 is highly sought after and pairs well with the petite board.
The CH552 is a powerful microcontroller with an enhanced E8051 core, offering 8-15 times faster instruction execution speed compared to the traditional MCS51 instruction set. It features a 16MHz clock speed and 3.3V logic, along with a built-in 16K program FLASH memory, 256-byte internal RAM, and 1K-byte internal xRAM with DMA support. Additionally, it includes 4 ADC channels, capacitive touch support, 3 timers/PWM channels, hardware UART, SPI, and a full-speed USB device controller. This allows it to function as a native USB device, such as a CDC serial or a mouse/keyboard HID.
Explore the possibilities of this chip in the convenient QT Py format. The pinout and shape are compatible with Seeed Xiao and feature castellated pads for easy soldering onto a PCB. Connect effortlessly with our preferred STEMMA QT connector, providing an expandable I2C port for use with STEMMA QT accessories and sensors. Additionally, enjoy the added benefits of an RGB NeoPixel and reset/enter buttons.
Please note! This is a minimal 8-bit microcontroller, and it definitely does not run CircuitPython or Micropython. It also doesn't really run Arduino. There's an Arduino 'board support package' we recommend, but the compiler is for C not C++, which means you cannot use any Arduino libraries. It's very very bare-bones and for hacking/experimenting with this '40 cent chip'
